YouthBridge & Make-A-Wish Host Estate Planners


Estate Planners Gather to Hear Jonathan Blattmachr

St. Louis, Missouri , September 01, 2009 -On August 21, 2009, 175 Estate Planners from the St. Louis community were hosted by YouthBridge Community Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation at the Sheraton Westport Chalet to hear world renowned estate planner, Jonathan Blattmachr.  Mr. Blattmachr entertained the crowd while discussing opportunities and strategies during times of record low interest rates and depressed asset values.

Following Mr. Blattmachr, all guests were invited to attend a luncheon which included a Q & A session between Clary Redd, Make-A-Wish Estate Planning Board President and Mr. Blattmachr, followed by the featured speaker, Carol Weisman, President of Board Builders.  Carol discussed how to develop support and planned giving practices to benefit nonprofit organizations as part of estate planning and its relevance to client retention and business development.

Closing out the day, the group was entertained by celebrity guest, Dan Boever, one of the world's premier golf entertainers and the winner of the 2008 World Long Drive Championship. Dan took a humorous look at his personal journey that began as a professional baseball player with the Cincinnati Reds and the strange twists that led him to a career on the golf course.

The seminar was supported by Maryville University and was approved by the Missouri Bar for 3.6 hours of CLE credit for each attendee.  Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards, Inc., approved the seminar for 3.5 hours of CFP credit.  CPE credit was awarded in accordance with requirements of the Missouri State Board of Accountancy.

Jonathan Blattmachr is a retired partner of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York and is recognized as one of the most creative trust and estate lawyers in the country.  He has written and lectured extensively on estate and trust taxation and charitable giving and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

Carol Weisman is President of Board Builders, an internationally known speaker, author, trainer and consultant who specializes in volunteerism, fund raising and governance.  She has served on 30 boards and has been president of seven. She has authored nine books including Raising Charitable Children and her latest, FundRaising SuperHeroes.
